 Flash-B-Gone

For Aluminum Metallization
/Evaporators

KEY ATTRIBUTES
• Boron nitride coating is nonreactive with metal flash shield areas due to its slightly alkaline pH.
• Applied like ordinary house paint; no curing is needed -- simply allow to dry completely before placing into service.
• Coating is designed for good adherence during operation with minimal outgassing.
• Coating and aluminum flash are easily removed after the run by vacuum cleaning or mechanical means, leaving the area free of aluminum and ready for the next ¡°roll coating¡± campaign.
• Aluminum flash will not flake-off during run.
• Consistent, uniform, quality coating with rapid delivery for all quantities

Flash-B-Gone is a specially formulated, water-based, boron nitride paint that is easily applied to metal shields and surfaces that get coated with aluminum during vacuum metallization/ evaporator coating.  There is no peeling or flaking-off of the coating during aluminizing.  At the end of the ¡°roll coating¡± process, Flash-B-Gone and the aluminum overspray film are readily removed from the flash shields or from any other parts/inner-workings of the vacuum evaporator chamber. No heavy scraping/chiseling/hammering is needed to clean off the vacuum chamber and equipment parts in order to ready it for the next roll to be aluminized.

USE NOTES
Flash-B-Gone is used for masking any areas where unwanted aluminum adherence would normally occur:
-Flash Shields
-Chamber Walls
-Inner Components
Flash-B-Gone is easy-to-use, like ordinary housepaint and can be cleaned up with water.

Flash-B-Gone is provided in a one-gallon, easy-pour-spout container to enable pouring into an open pail for brush-applied painting of the metal shields.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
IMPORTANT –– FOR BEST RESULTS, DO NOT DILUTE; USE FULL STRENGTH.
1. Resuspend the paint before use.
2. For first-time use, clean shield surfaces to be painted of oils, dirt, scale, and loose materials.
3. Brush on a thin layer of paint. A second thin coating may be applied but is generally not needed. [Note: alternately, spray-coating with a pressurized air-sprayer can also be done.]
4. Allow the brushed coating to become dry to the touch before use.
5. Post-metallizing: minimal effort to remove the coating and aluminum layer is needed. Flash-B-Gone is easily removed with light wire-brushing and vacuum cleaning.
6. After first use, if desired, coating can be applied on top of any residual boron nitride coating on shield surfaces after the aluminum has been scraped off/removed.
