   Technical Data

Formable Monolithic Refractory TYPE 84 C is an ideal high-alumina, coarse grained refractory for those applications requiring high-temperature erosion and chemical resistance. Its binder stiffens as it dries upon exposure to air and hardens without susceptibility to rehydration after drying at 100 C (212 F). Its use is simple – hand-pack, air dry, and then heat to fully dry and harden to form a monolithic refractory.

Installation Information
Storage life is 6 to 9 months or longer if stored at room temperature in tightly sealed containers. To use, hand-form into free-standing shapes or hand-pack into hex-steel mesh for lining of metal subtrates, or, hand-pack into refractory ceramics to veneer. DO NOT USE TROWEL FOR PACKING. Use rubber gloves moistened with water when packing. For optimal drying, raise from ambient to 170 F at 50 F/Hr., hold for 3 hours. This step is the most important. Next, raise from 170 F to 220 F in about 1 hour and hold for 3 hours. Raise from 220 F to 420 F in about 2 hours and hold 3 hours. Raise to operating temperature at any reasonable rate.
